Black HolesBlack holes are exactly what they sound like. Giant black holes that nothing can escape. Not even light. The gravity there is so strong. Black holes happen when a certain type of star explodes and sucks back in imploding. No one knows everything or much about black holes. Since no light can escape them they can't really be seen. We knkw they are there because thkngs are being pulled to them and then dissappear.
GalaxiesGalaxies are large clusters of stars. We live in the Milky Way galaxy. There are three typesnof galaxies. Elliptical, Spiral, and Irregular. Elliptical galaxies are like egg shaped galaxies with center point. Spiral galaxies, like the one we live in, have a center point and arms that wrap around it. Irregular galaxies have no shape or form.

The Sun and other StarsOur sun is the center of our solar system. It keeps all the planets in order and in orbit. Although the sun is big, it is not the biggest star in the universe. Its not even close to being the biggest. Some stars are ginormous. They could fit thousands of our sun inside of them. The closest star besides our sun is Polaris, also known as the north star.
The Electromagnetic SpectrumThe Electromagnetic spectrum categorizes radiowaves, microwaves, infrared waves, visible light, ultraviolet waves, x-rays and gamma rays. Radio waves have the longest wave length and are used for like radio and tv signals. Microwaves have a slightly smaller wave length and are used in microwaves to warm the food. Infrared waves are used in tv remotes and for some thermal lamps. The wave length is a little smaller that microwaves. Visible light is light that we can see. The light given off all around us. It has all the colors that we can see. Ultraviolet waves are used in UV lamps in hospital and have a shorter wave length that visible light. X-rays are used to look through soft tissue, to see like bones or build ups. Gamma rays are extremely dangerous and are used for multiple thinfs like treating ccancers.Gamma rays have the shortest wave length.
